The method

How Dry Ice Blasting Works

Dry ice cleans through three powerful actions:

  1. Kinetic Impact

Compressed air propels dry ice pellets against the surface, physically removing unwanted buildup without scratching the underlying substrate.

  2. Thermal Shock

At -109°F, the extreme cold of the dry ice causes warm contaminants to become brittle. Because different materials contract at different rates, this thermal differential breaks the bond between the buildup and the surface.

  3. Rapid Sublimation

Upon impact, the dry ice pellets absorb heat and instantly vaporize, expanding to roughly 800 times their solid volume. This microscopic gas expansion acts like a shockwave, sweeping the loosened particles cleanly away from the surface.

Why dry ice

Benefits of Dry Ice Blasting

  • Zero Secondary Waste

Dry ice turns to gas on impact—no sand, water, or spent media to clean up. Only the removed buildup is left to sweep up.

  • FDA, USDA, and EPA Compliant

Cleans food and beverage equipment without adding water or chemical cleaning residue.

  • Moisture-Free and Non‑Conductive

No water cleanup for delicate electronics and machines, and electrical equipment once it is de-energized and locked out.

  • Chemical-Free

Get your project cleaned without solvents, caustic degreasers, or chemical strippers.

  • Non-Abrasive

Removes buildup without the surface profiling that abrasive blasting media can leave behind.

Getting started

A clear path from first call to written quote

Whether you manage a paint line, press, packaging room, or facility rehab, we use the same practical quoting process.

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Understand the goal

Work begins by understanding your goal or problem. We discuss the need, review photos or video you provide, and often schedule an on-site walkthrough.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Develop a cleaning plan

Once we understand the objective, we develop a cleaning plan. It summarizes the work, timeline, access and equipment needed, and items you may be able to provide, such as plant compressed air or existing aerial lifts.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Send a service quote

You receive a clear written quote to review with your team before deciding to move forward.
